Principal's Message

Ever since its beginnings, Anchor Green Primary School has always striven towards being a community of aspiring and gracious learners, a school where pupils aspire, grow and serve. In AGPS we believe that every child wants to learn and has the potential to learn and develop to his or her potential. We also believe that every child learns better in a happy and nurturing environment and that every child can be taught good values and habits as well as achieve all round development. It is based on these beliefs that the school takes on a student-centred approach in providing learning experiences and opportunities that ensures the holistic development of our pupils.

Our AGPS staff seeks to identify the potential in our pupils, bringing out the best in them and providing a safe, dynamic and nurturing environment conducive for their engaged learning. They are committed to developing our pupils’ character with emphasis on the school values of R.I.C.E (Respect, Integrity, Confidence and Excellence) and grooming them as leaders who serve. To develop pupils as confident and effective communicators with critical and creative thinking skills, our teachers engage in teaching strategies that facilitates visible thinking as well as dialogic expression of ideas in our pupils. Our AGPS staff continuously upgrade themselves professionally to better meet the evolving needs of our pupils.

Since 2014, Anchor Green Primary School has its distinctive programme Serve and Lead through Environment Education (SLEEC) recognised by the Ministry of Education as a Learning for Life Programme (LLP) that develop our pupils’ character, inculcating in them the knowledge, skills  and attitude towards environmental sustainability in their daily actions. In 2016, our school has its aesthetics-based programme, Aspire, Grow Passion, Serve through the Arts (A.G.P.S Arts) acknowledged by MOE as the school’s second LLP. Besides anchoring on engaging Art & Music instructional programmes and PAL programmes, and ensuring curriculum time for General Art and Music Programmes, AGPS also seeks to offer engaging and enriched Performing Arts and Visual Arts co-curricular programmes to all our pupils. The school will continue its efforts to provide our pupils with opportunities to develop 21st Century Competencies particularly through its two LLPs, exposing them to a wide range of experiences to build their social emotional competencies, acquire sound values, as well as demonstrate important life-skills.

We, in AGPS believe in and appreciate the importance of a close and collaborative partnership with our stakeholders namely our SAC members, parents and external organisations in providing our pupils opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. Henry Ford once said, ‘Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, working together is success’. I am confident that through the sustainable, purposeful and collaborative efforts from everyone, our AGPS pupil will shine, ready to contribute and serve society in one way or another.
